Ralph "Pete" Johnting, Jr. Obituary (1927 - 2015)

Ralph "Pete" Johnting, Jr., 88, of Lynn, IN passed away early Monday morning, September 28, 2015 at Reid Health and Hospital of Richmond, IN. He was born April 30, 1927 in Laurel, IN the son of Ralph and Susie (McKinney) Johnting. Ralph honorably served his lifelong profession as a farmer. He never really retired because his heart was still behind the wheels of the tractor and combine, of course, John Deere. He enjoyed spending his leisure time playing Euchre with a local club and friends; camping and traveling across the country; watching and participating in tractor pulls; but most of all, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren in various events. He was a member of First Church of Christ in Lynn, IN, where he served as a trustee and deacon; and also Rural Couples of Randolph County. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of 64 years, Burnita (Clements) Johnting; two daughters, Jane Flesher (husband, Joel) of Ridgeville, IN and Mary Lou Berryhill (husband, Jerry) of Statesville, NC; a sister, Violet Mae Pilcher (husband, Alfred) of Englewood, OH; and three grandchildren, Jenna Gonzalez de la Vega (husband, Armando), Jerrett Flesher and Jentry Flesher. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Jim, Omer, Kenneth, Everett and Frank; and a sister, Vivian Gideon. A service to celebrate Ralph's life will be 10 am Friday, October 2, 2015 at Thomas Memorial Chapel of Lynn, IN with Pastor Doug Nolen officiating. Burial will follow in Fountain Park Cemetery of Winchester, IN. Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 4-8 pm Thursday, at the funeral home.
