Mary Catherine (Conley) Rains Obituary (1936 - 2018)

Mary Catherine Rains, 81, of Parker City, IN passed away peacefully with loving family by her side, Tuesday morning, January 2, 2018, at her residence. She was born September 4, 1936 in Soldier, KY the daughter of John and Pearl (Barker) Conley. Mary loved and served her family as a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and was known by the community for walking her beloved canine friend, Pitty Bull. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband of 60 years, Richard; a son, Gregory Scott Rains of Farmland, IN; three sisters, Sarah Duff (Lee) of Richmond and Mae Monroe (Frank), all of Richmond, IN and Lee Vernon of Centerville, IN; a granddaughter, Bobbie Jo Rains (Shawn) of Parker City, IN; and four great grandchildren, Preston and Pierceton Erwin, Laney Mae Riley and Xaiden Rains. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Brian; a grandson, Nicholas; and a brother, John "Bud" Conley. There will be a private family service. There will be no public calling hours. Burial will be at Buena Vista Cemetery of Unionport, Indiana. Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thornburg Chapel of Parker City, IN has been entrusted with arrangements.
