Judith Ann (Wood) Johnson Obituary (1928

Judith Johnson, 82, of Lynn, IN went to be with her Lord Wednesday afternoon, May 11, 2011 at the Waters of New Castle, IN. She was born Sept. 10th 1928 to Otto C. and Bertha (Allee) Wood of Indianapolis, IN. She grew up in the city during the Great Depression and attended Arsenal Technical H.S. She had worked at the Leader Store and liked to refer to it as the Wal-Mart of its day. It was located in the downtown Indianapolis area, where Washington crossed the "The Delaware". She married Philip C. Johnson of Lynn on October 11th 1946 and came to Randolph County. They farmed the family homestead and pastored several churches. She had taught and adult Sunday school class and was a soloist and an exhorter of the Bible for several years. Judy enjoyed her family, writing poetry and short stories and collecting angels. She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Chris (Jennifer) of Trafalgar, IN, Perry (Eunice) of Lynn, IN and David Todd of Lynn, IN; two daughters, Mary Ann Lowe of Crawfordsville, IN and Margie (David) Griffie of Carlisle, PA; a sister, Jane Baker of West Milton, OH; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband; three sisters; a son-in-law; and a nephew. A memorial service to celebrate Judy's life will be at 3:00 pm Sunday, May 15th at the Word of Faith Church of 8418 W. US Hwy 36 in Modoc, IN. Private family graveside services will be held at the families convenience. Memorial contributions may be made to the Word of Hope Church.
