Joyce L. (Smith) Ruble Obituary (1934 - 2014)

Joyce L. Ruble, 79, of Parker City, IN passed away Friday afternoon, August 29, 2014 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital of Muncie, IN. She was born October 20, 1934 in Orange County, IN the daughter of Dennis and Opal (Lowman) Smith. She received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Ball State University of Muncie, IN. Joyce was retired in 1997 after 27 years as a 3rd grade teacher, starting at Farmland Elementary and then Monroe Central Elementary. Joyce was a member of Retired Teacher Association of Randolph County and Eastern Star of Parker City, IN and attended Parker City United Methodist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband, Virgil E. Ruble; a daughter, Janny Kay Wright (husband, Tom) of Pittsburgh, PA; a son, Michael Ruble (wife, Gena) of Farmland, IN; three grandchildren, Jason Cowan and Lyndsey Cowan, both of Pittsburgh, PA and Shane Ruble of Farmland, IN; a brother, David Smith of Los Angeles, CA; and a sister, Martha LuAnn Smith of Palm Springs, CA. A service to celebrate Joyce's life will be 10 am Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Thornburg Memorial Chapel of Parker City, IN. Burial will follow in DeSoto Cemetery. Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 4-8 pm Monday, September 1st at the funeral home.
