Jackie "Jack" L. Cox Obituary (1933 - 2024)

With a heart as large as his personality, Jackie "Jack" L. Cox, 91, of Farmland, Indiana, closed his eyes to his earthly home on June 3, 2024. Born on April 13, 1933, in Winchester, Indiana, Jack was known for his generous spirit, loving heart, and a wit that could light up any room. His dedication to his family, friends, and community was unparalleled. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." Jack embodied this throughout his life. Jack operated Farmland Auto Parts for many years before retiring in 2003. His love for his work was only surpassed by his dedication to his community. A 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Jack was always looking for ways to serve those around him. This included his passion for woodworking and his love for historical preservation, which led to his special recognition from Historic Farmland, USA. Jack was more than just a business owner--he was a cornerstone of the community, always lending a hand, a smile, or a word of encouragement when needed. Jack's love for his family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his sons, Kristin Cox (wife, Theresa) and Kevin Cox (companion, Elizabeth Troy). He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Helen Cox; his wife, Marcia Cox; his brother, Rex Cox; and his step-father, Carl Wellington. A part of Jack's legacy lives on in his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Jack once said, "The most important thing in the world is family and love," and he exemplified this in every aspect of his life.
