J Neal White Obituary (1929 - 2011)

J. Neal White, 82, of Dunkirk, IN passed away early Tuesday morning, November 1, 2011 at Miller's Merry Manor of Dunkirk. He was born October 1, 1929 in Dunkirk, IN the son of Samuel C. and Minnie B. (Urick) White. He was a 1949 graduate of Dunkirk High School and honorably served in the United States Army 73rd AAA Battalion, 7th Army Artillary during the Korean Conflict. J. Neal retired in 1987, after 31 years as a Tool Maker for General Motors. He was a member of the American Legion Post 156 of Montpelier, IN, the Elks Lodge 1776 where he had served as past Exalted Ruler and the Lake view Golf Course. He enjoyed spending his leisure time fishing, hunting and playing various musical instruments. He was a drummer in a drum and bugle corp. He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Kevin Neal White (wife, Holly) and Rex Alan White, all of Hartford City, IN; a daughter, Brenda S. White of Gas City, IN; a grandson, Kyle Jay White of Hartford City, IN; a special friend, Aloma; a niece, Sheila Brown (husband, Robert) of Dunkirk; several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul F. White; two sisters, Emma B. Slentz and Violet C. LaForge. A service to celebrate J. Neal's life will be at 11 am Friday, November 4, 2011 at Dunkirk Memorial Chapel of Dunkirk, IN. Burial will follow at Dunkirk I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 4 - 8 pm Thursday, November 3rd and a hour before services at the funeral home.
