Juanita (Burnworth) Smithson Obituary (1921 - 2010)

C. Juanita Smithson, 89, of Ridgeville, IN passed away early Sunday morning, April 4, 2010 at St. Vincent's Randolph Hospital of Winchester. She was born March 17, 1921 in Randolph Co., the daughter of Mitchell O. and Mary J. (Gray) Burnworth. Juanita was a 1938 graduate of Farmland High School. She had worked 10+ years at Ball Stores until 1955, and then she happily became a homemaker. Juanita was a member of Olive Branch Christian Church where she had been active in the Ladies Aide. She was also a member of the Nu-Wa Home Economics Club. She enjoyed spending her leisure time gardening, cooking and spending time with family and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Ronald R. Smithson (wife, Darlene) of Ridgeville and Richard V. Meeks (wife, Janice) of Port Charlotte, FL; two daughters, Betty L. Barchman (husband, Phillip R. ) of Martinsville and Connie K. Shannon of Winchester; nine grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two loving husbands, Vernon M. Meeks and secondly, Fred R. Smithson; two sisters, Marie Craig Downing and Hazel Barber Speece; and a brother, Walter Burnworth.
